Donation Terms & Conditions

1. General

By making a donation to the Islamophobia Response Unit (IRU), you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Donations may be made online, or by bank transfer. Your donation constitutes an offer which IRU accepts upon issuing a confirmation receipt.

2. Use of Donations

IRU will allocate your donation to the project, fund, or appeal you selected. If a project becomes oversubscribed or circumstances require flexibility, IRU may apply the donation to the closest suitable area of work to ensure maximum impact and continuity of our services.

3. Refund Policy

IRU is not generally able to refund donations, in accordance with standard charity practice.
Refunds will only be considered where:

A duplicate donation was made in error, or
A clear administrative or processing mistake occurred;
And in either case, we were contacted within 7 days to notify us of the issue,

4. Donor Responsibility

You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the information you provide, including donation amount, frequency, and payment details.

5. Gift Aid

If you choose to add Gift Aid, you confirm that you are a UK taxpayer and understand that if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed, it is your responsibility to pay the difference.

6. Data Protection & Privacy

Your personal data will be used solely for processing your donation, maintaining accurate donor records, and complying with legal and financial reporting requirements. For more information, please refer to IRU’s Privacy Policy.

7. Security

All payment information is handled securely. By submitting your donation, you agree to IRU processing your personal data for the purposes of completing the transaction.

8. Amendments

IRU may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Changes required by law will apply immediately; otherwise, the terms in force at the time of your donation will apply.

9. Events Beyond Our Control

IRU is not responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control (e.g., technical issues, banking delays).

10. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
